What is TreeFLX made from?
-TreeFLX is a revolutionary technology, using biodegradable plastics made from corn starch and 100% recycled wood.
What can TreeFLX be used for?
-The applications that TreeFLX can be used for are truly limitless! Whatever your imagination can create, you can create with this product, such as costumes, arts and crafts, theater and movie props, toys, jewelry, models, signs, household items and much more. The limit is your imagination.
How does TreeFLX work?
-The beauty of TreeFLX is how easy and clean it is to work with. By simply applying heat with a heat gun (or hair dryer), the material will start to become moldable at 80 degrees Celsius / 176 Fahrenheit. This process takes only a few seconds with a simple heat gun. At this point you can mold, stick, glue, and create your creation. Afterwards, you let the material cool and it binds and holds in place.
What do you recommend to use for heating the material?
-We recommend any heat gun used for arts and crafts because it only takes seconds to activate the polymers in TreeFLX. If a heat gun is unavailable, a hair dryer will also work. If your project requires you to mold the entire sheet then you can use a Microwave and follow the instructions.
Is TreeFLX paint-able?
-Yes, absolutely! Spray is one of the best options, fastest and easiest. Also, you can use paint, pencil, marker. We only do not recommend water based paint.
Can TreeFLX be laser cut?
-Yes! you can cut the sheet using a laser cutter without any problems. You’ll need to test it to see what settings work best for you.
How strong is TreeFLX?
-TreeFLX is very strong! Based on our lab testing, the scientific breaking point is over 200 lbs. This means that the material will withstand an immense amount of pressure before any type of crack or breakage.
When heated, is there any odor released?
-The material is 100% biodegradable. Only at a very high heat (burning point), will you sense a pleasant smell of wood. But this is very unlikely as the material does not need to be heated anywhere close to that point. Once the material becomes soft, almost like clay, it is ready to be adjusted, cut, glued, or put together in any way the creator wishes.
How does TreeFLX stick and mold together?
-When the sheets are heated with the heat gun for a few seconds, the binding properties of the corn starch become moldable. An artist uses their hands to put pieces of the material together and holds until the material cools. The binding is sealed for a tight fit with absolutely no mess, glue, chemicals, or leftovers.
What should I do with small leftovers?
-Leftovers can be fully mixed back into the original material, which avoids waste.
Is TreeFLX microwavable?
-Yes, the full sheet can be microwaved to mold to any desirable shape. When using TreeFLX in a microwave, please follow the instructions below:
1- Set the temperature at 11 seconds.
2- Test the sheet with your fingers before removing (use gloves if it is too hot or wait till it cools down)
3- If sheet is not moldable, reheat it for a longer period (depending on the type of microwave)
4- Use any object to shape the sheet (TreeFLX is adhesive to fabrics but it does not bond)
How Safe is it to use TreeFLX?
-TreeFLX is 100% non-toxic material with no harm to humans or the environment.
